Strawberry Tilda

I've had my favourite Tilda out for a play again.  I bought Quick Cards Made Easy a few days ago and the free paper stack that came with it was crying out to be used with this stamp.
I've coloured her with Promarkers, die cut with a Curved Rectangle nestie and gone round the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.
The flowers were made with an Xcut punch and are supposed to look a bit like strawberry flowers.  The leaves were die cut with a Marianne die.
Some ribbon, a bow, three buttons and a couple of weeny wooden ladybirds are the finishing touches.
I quite fancy a big bowl of strawberries and cream now!

Bird Song

More Papermania Urban stamps and more with my new Spellbinders die set!
The central piece of music paper is Papermania book print paper and the paper either side of this is cream stamped with a musical Urban stamp in Antique Linen Distress Ink.
The stamped piece in the centre is another Urban stamp, this time stamped in black and then given a coat of Distress Paint in Rock Candy.
The panel with the bird on was all made with my Mixed Media Spellbinders set and so was the banner.  I've inked everything with Distress Ink in Antique Linen.  The little sentiment stamp on the banner is from  a Personal Impressions set.
The flower was made with my Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals die and the stamen was made with a Nellie Snellen punch and a gold gem.
A few pearls and it's done!

Christmas Tree O' Christmas Tree

Tuesday mornings are Christmas card making sessions with the girls and this week we went with a theme of vintage Christmas trees.
The papers and stamps are all from Papermania from the Silent Night range from a couple of years ago.  The papers are stunning, some have a glitter or foil finish and the traditional colours have a lovely. muted vintage feel.
I stamped the tree in Perfect Medium onto cream, gold flecked card and heat embossed the Personal Impressions verdigris powder.  I then added Liquid Pearls in white where I wanted the snow and sprinkled on Jones Tones glitter.  I used the Liquid Pearls rather than glue to create a bit of dimension.  The stamped strip behind the sentiment was stamped in the same way as the tree and the sentiment was heat embossed with gold powder.
The flowers were made with my much loved Nellie Snellen punches and the corner feature was made with a Marianne die.
A few gold gems from Papermania's Black and Gold range further highlight the corner and add a touch of bling.

Yay! I Won!

I'd never entered a papercraft competition before, this was my very first entry, and I've won a massive haul of House Mouse goodies!  I can't tell you how chuffed I am.  The competition was in Quick Cards Made Easy and had to feature a heart.  There were ten winners, although only three were printed in the mag, mine being one of them.  I can't wait for my prize to arrive now!  I only found out I'd won when I picked up the new issue at Tesco today and was flicking through.  It was just the pick me up I was needing as I'm feeling a bit pants today.
This was one of those projects that just grew layer upon layer, I had no idea where it was heading when I started apart from that I would have a gilded heart.  The heart was made with double sided adhesive sheet, one side stuck to cardstock and the other gilded with gold flakes.  I embossed it with a cogs embossing folder for added texture.
The easel card was made from Bazzil cardstock and the papers are Kanban Industriana and Papermania Black and Gold.  I tore the paper behind the heart for a shabby look and stamped keys from a Papermania Urban set and heat embossed with gold powder.  I also sprinkled on a bit of gold powder randomly and heated it to give a grungy shimmer.
The cogs were made with Spellbinders dies and the key was made with a Marianne die.  The padlocks were cut on my Cricut using the Sweethearts cartridge, layered up , sanded and inked.
The sentiment was hand written on a Frame element from the Black and Gold paper stack.
Some ribbon and a sprinkling of gems finish it off.
I'm really pleased with how it turned out and even more pleased to have won!

Vintage Sewing

I'm on a roll at the moment, I just can't stop crafting!  I had a week where I wasn't able to craft because of tendonitis and my poor old creative brain went into meltdown with ideas.  I've been able to craft again for a week and I'm still working through all my ideas and spending far too long enjoying myself when I should really be doing other things.
This one was me playing with my new mini sewing machine again and I went with a dressmaker theme.
The papers are magazine freebies, the nicest free stack for ages and the lace mat was made with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set.  I've coloured this and the scalloped blank with Antique Linen Distress Ink.
The tailor's dummy is a Tim Holtz Sizzix die called Sewing Room.  I cut it from Bazzil card and painted it with Distress Paint in Rock Candy, which is clear, for an aged look.  I then simply wrapped round some lace and ribbon to make a bodice.
The tape measure is part of a Personal Impressions sewing themed stamp set which I stamped and rolled up the end.
The buttons are from the big bag of loveliness which is the Boofle assortment, and is a bargain at £3 for a big bag.
A scattering of gems and pearls add to the random look.

Fussy and Fancy DT Call

I haven't been blogging all that long, but I've found it totally addictive!  Here are my three favourites from the last couple of months.
You can see what the other applicants have made here, there's some stunning work.

Easter Bunny

How sweet is this Digi!  It's another of Ruth's images from A Passion for Stamps which I've coloured with Promarkers.
The pretty papers are all Papermania Me To You Spring Chic, a lovely paper stack in pastel colours.
The sentiment stamp is a random one from my stash, I've no idea where it came from, it's been there years!
The border punch is Martha Stewart and the flowers were made with Xcut punches.
Some knotted ribbon and a few pink gems and that's another Easter card finished.

Daffodil Gift Bag

Last night was craft night with the girls and we all made these triangular gift bags.  My shoulder has improved enough to bake again so we had some blueberry, lemon and mint drizzle cake before we got crafting.
The gorgeous daffodil image is one of Ruth's new images from A Passion for Stamps.  It's so beautifully drawn and is a joy to colour.  As a SAD sufferer, daffodils herald the arrival of more daylight, hence why I love them so much.  My favourites are the yellow ones with peachy orange centres like the one I've coloured here.
The box was made with Xcut nesting pennant dies, scalloped and plain, with a card gusset to make the sides.  The papers are Papermania Capsule Collection in Lemon Sorbet.  A ribbon handle and some gems finish it off.
I'm making three of these so Robbie can give them to his teachers and classroom assistant as an Easter gift.  I've popped some Easter chocolates inside, yum!
Although we all made the same boxes, they all looked so different as everyone decorated them in different ways.  We had stamped images and die cut flowers in a lovely selection of colours, they all looked beautiful.  I love seeing everyone's take on the same theme and I'm always amazed by how different they all look.

A Bird in the Hand is Worth Two in the Bush!

Ok, I admit it, I'm becoming obsessed with these Artemio bird stamps!  There are so many lovely birdies in the set the possibilities are endless.  I've stamped the birds in black Memento and coloured with promarkers.  I then die cut them with nesties and inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.
The yummy papers are magazine freebies.  They have such a lovely, soft vintage look to them.
I was itching to try out my new mini sewing machine so I did some messy stitching round the edge to add to the shabby look.
The sentiment stamp is from a Papermania Urban set, one of the new travel sets, which I've stamped onto patterned paper.
I made a lacy strip with a Martha Stewart punch and added some ribbon and a bow.
The flowers were made with a Nellie Snellen punch set which is worth it's weight in gold, I use it so much, and the leafy branch was made with a Marianne die.  It's actually a bird on a branch but I cut the bird off so I could just use the branch.
A handful of pearls finish it off.

A Little Birdie Told Me

I had a bit of a purse malfunction, ie. I spent too much, in the craft shop yesterday!  It's not my fault they stock the loveliest things!  I went in for a Promarker blender pen to replace my old one and came out with a mini sewing machine, a set of Spellbinders Mixed Media dies and some crackle paint.  Oops!
Mum and I had a lovely, crafty afternoon when we came home from the craft shop.  We had already decided we were going to play with heat embossing satin board but I just had to use my new dies too.  I had the packaging open as soon as I got through the door!
The effect of heat embossing with clear powder on satin board is truly magical, the embossed areas look as if they've been foiled.  I've used my Artemio feather stamps, such a versatile set.
The papers are Papermania Capsule Collection in Sunshine which I've teamed with two shades of grey to tone the colours down a bit.
The 8x8 shaped blank is from Craftwork Cards and I've inked it with old Whispers ink pads which are a bit too dry to stamp with but are perfect for using direct to paper.
The leafy border punch is from EK Success and is such an elegant design.
The bird, branch and leafy border behind the sentiment are all from my new Spellbinders set.  I think I might be just s little bit in love with them!
The sentiment stamp is from a new Papermania Urban stamp set, one I've used loads already.
Well, it wouldn't be mine without some ribbon and gems and I've added a tiny bird brad to the centre of my trademark bow.

Vintage Kingfisher

I think I could play with these Artemio bird and feather stamp sets forever and never get bored.  The detail is fantastic and the birds have a lovely vintage feel to them.  I stamped the kingfisher in black Memento and coloured him with Promarkers.  The feathers were stamped in Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Inks and coloured lightly with Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass.  I then highlighted the central spine with Anita's 3D Gloss and added a few tiny gems.
The papers are from a mahoosive bargain K&Co pack, layered onto kraft after all the edges have been distressed.  I smudged on some Distress Stickles in Peeled Paint and Broken China with my finger to two of the corners.
A few blue pearls finish it off.

Spring Branch

When I saw the colour combo over at Color Throwdown this week, I was instantly reminded of these Papermania Persimmon papers.  They have a lovely, vintage feel to them so I decided to go a bit shabby with this card.
The stamp is a Sheena Douglass, Little Bit Sketchy one which I've stamped in Bundled Sage Distress Ink and coloured with Promarkers.
The leafy border punch is Martha Stewart which I've layered up with a Persimmon border sticker and some ribbon.
The flower is from my stash, I think they're Papermania, as is the gem brad.
A few gems and it's finished.

Dandelions

This card was just so hard to photograph!  You can't really see much of the shimmer from all the mica I've used.  It was one of those projects where I tried layering up several techniques, not knowing what I was going to end up with.
I started by stamping the dandelions, which are a Personal Impression set, in Perfect Medium onto Clarity card and then inking with Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Faded Jeans using my Distress Ink tool.  It looked nice but not enough texture so I sanded it.  Still too wishy washy so a spritzed it with Cosmic Shimmer mist in teal.  The dandelions weren't very defined so I stamped again, slightly offset to the first images in Perfect Medium and added turquoise mica powder.  I then stamped another offset set of images and added a darker blue mica powder.  The depth was built up quite nicely now so all I had to do was stamp more offset images and heat emboss with silver powder.
The teal coloured satin board is from Create and Craft and looks lovely as it is but when you heat emboss with clear powder the magic really happens.  The areas of embossing look as if they have been foiled!  The effect is stunning but I've not captured it well at all in the photo.  The sentiment has been done in the same way and is part of the same stamp set.
After that it was just a case of layering up with and panel embossed with a Craft Concepts folder, adding a bow and a row of three square gems.

Cool Britania

It's those Papermania Urban stamps again!  This London image is from the set I got for Mother's Day, I'm so enjoying playing with them.
The papers are all Papermania from the Portobello Road range and so are the buttons, ribbon and bow.
The bunting was hand cut and the lettering stickers have been in my stash for years, I've got no idea where they came from!
I'm not much of a patriot really, but from a design point of view I'm lovin' the whole red, white and blue, bunting and Union Flags thing that is everywhere at the moment.

Inspired by 70s Telly!

After seeing some Paddington products on Create and Craft, I started thinking about kids TV in the 70s and early 80s.  Remember how the backgrounds in Paddington and other kids TV shows were black and white line drawings with just the characters in colour in the days of low budget children's telly?  Well, I decided to put a papercraft twist on the idea and here's what I came up with. The image is a Penny Black stamp, coloured with Promarkers, cut out and layered with foam pads for dimension onto a plain stamped image.  The floral border was stamped with an ancient See Ds stamp set with the corner flowers raised on foam pads.
It was then just a case of layering up and adding ribbon, a bow and some gems as well as a stamped sentiment.
It's actually quite a large card at 8x8 and a bit different from my usual style but it was fun to work through the thought process that led to it.  When I started it, I didn't really know what I was going to end up with even though I was using a sketch but that's how I usually work!  My cards just kinda happen!

He Is Risen

Here's a card I made for my pastor and his family for Easter.  His wife is a very keen gardener and florist so I thought that daffodils would be the perfect choice!
The stamp is actually a Papermania tile stamp but I've just used the central element and cut it out rather than the whole square.  I stamped in Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and coloured with Promarkers.  I'm lovin' the new Joanna Sheen Satin Elegance cardstock for Promarkering and you can stamp with Distress Ink and colour straight a way without heat setting.  It's by far the nicest stamping card I've used and at 300gsm it's good and sturdy.
The patterned papers are all K&Co, part of a huge bargain pack, used alongside some kraft and Tim Holtz Core'dinations which has been torn to reveal the core.  I distressed the edges of all the layers with a bluntish craft knife.
The sentiment is simply handwritten in my everyday handwriting for a personal touch using an olive green Whispers pen.
Some ruffled ribbon, lace, buttons and pearls add to the vintage look.

Ruffled Ribbon

Yesterday was Monday so it was craft night with the girlies.  No home baking due to my sore shoulder this week but at least I can craft again!  Woohoo!  We had to make do with some Quality Streets to go with our tea!
We all made stepper cards using the score board which came free with Papercraft Inspirations.  I have both the Ultimate Pro and the Hougie board but this freebie has score lines for a cute wee stepper card made from A5 card.
I made the card from Hunkydory cardstock which has a delicate lace pattern printed on it in very pale shades of lilac.  The decoupage topper is also Hunkydory and was already slightly glittered but I couldn't resist adding a bit of Diamond Stickles round the edge.
My ribbon fetish knows no bounds on this card with ruffles made from three different ribbons held in place with high tack DST.
The little flowers were made with an Xcut punch and given dimention with an embossing tool before being highlighted with more Diamond Stickles.
A liberal smattering of gems, pearls and a double bow are the finishing touches.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Another Chrismas card to pop aside for the festive season!  The image I've used is a Papermania Urban stamp which came as part of a set in a Docrafts goody bag last year.  The packaging does not do the stamps justice at all.  If you've ever seen the film Bad Santa starring Billy Bob Thornton, well, that's kinda how he looks in the packaging!  The stamps are actually really nice, fun to colour and are quite detailed.  The sentiment stamp is from the same set.  I've coloured him with Promarkers and added some texture to the fur trim with ultra fine Flower Soft.
The patterned  papers are Papermania Noel, also in a goody bag and all the cardstock is Papermania too.  I added a wee bit of interest to the kraft panel with a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder.  It's a bit of an unusual colour combo with the grey and kraft but I quite like it.
The die cut snowflake is a Sizzix die which I've layered with a wooden embellishment.  Ribbon, bow and a few gems finish it off.

I Love Paris in the Springtime!

Well, what a lucky Mummy I was yesterday!  As well as a lovely card made at school by my wee boy, Robbie, and a family lunch with Hubby, Robbie, Mum and my Stepdad at an Italian retaurant, I was also treated to another set of Papermania travel themed Urban stamps and a set of Spellbinders anemone dies.  A close friend works in my local craft shop and she was able to point the boys in the right direction for a fabby present!  So, after lunch I just had to have a play with my new goodies, it would've been rude not to!
I'm so in love with Urban stamps just now (in case you hadn't noticed!) but I decided to go soft and feminine this time.  I got busy stamping with Memento ink in London Fog onto pink and several shades of grey card.  Even the dark grey mat has tiny postcards stamped onto it.
I coloured the edges of the scalloped blank with Distress Ink in Spun Sugar direct from the pad and added a mat of Papermania Hot Diggedy Dog paper.
I then went for a rummage in my stash and found a part used sheet of gorgeous, pink printed vellum which screamed at me to use it!  I rounded the top corners and tore the bottom to add to the shabby look.
My Tim Holtz paper distresser is missing in action (it'll turn up when I tidy my craft table!) so I scuffed the edges of everything with an old craft knife.
The flower was made with my new dies from white vellum with a silver leaf print and the same patterned, pink vellum as before, held together with a fabric brad.
Some pleated ribbon embellished with tiny brads, a bow and three pearly gems complete the card.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mums out there, I hope you get thoroughly spoiled!
Luckily, I made this card for my wonderful Mum in good time, before my shoulder problem started.  I hope she likes it!  She's a crafter too so she'll appreciate how much work went into it and I know she'll love the colour combo.  I had such fun making this and it fits in nicely with my "more is more" philosophy!
The cascade card was made with Bazzil cardstock and then it was time to go wild with the embellishments!  I made three arches using nesties and added four flowers made from Stampin' Up book print paper cut with my Tattered Florals die to each.
The flowers and butterflies were made with Hero Arts and Sizzix stamp and die cut set, colouring direct to the stamps with Whispers pens.
The lettering was done with an old set of See D stamps which hadn't seen the light of day for some time, I must get them out more often.
Some gems, glass nuggets, bows and a hint of pink Stickles and it's done.

We Three Mice

Here's a card I made over a week ago and forgot about!  I actually managed to colour a topper yesterday so my shoulder is definitely on the mend.  I was at the doctor's today and I'm quite sore as he had to manipulate it quite a bit to see just how much of my rotator cuff is affected.  He thinks I have tendonitis in all my shoulder and neck tendons on my right side as well as inflamed muscles.  Anyway, he gave me a steroid injection into where he thinks the worst of the inflammation is so I'm hoping that will help.  I'm soooo bored not being able to craft, cook or bake!
Enough of my waffle and back to the card!  I made this one when I had a crafty session with the girlies a week last Tuesday.  We all did some House Mouse decoupage after our tea and cake!  Our Tuesday morning session is always a Christmas card in a bid not to have a mad rush at the end of the year.
It's a fairly simple layout as the decoupage part is quite large.  I just love those cute House Mice, they always have the most expressive faces and are full of fun.
The papers are old ones from Papermania that I got going cheap and the holly border punch is Martha Stewart.
Some ribbon, a bow, some Papermania dew drops and a few highlights of glitter glue and that's another Christmas card done.

More Urban Stamps!

Hello blogland, it seems like ages since I last posted.  I've got problems with my rotator cuff at the moment which gives the symptoms of a dislocated shoulder and I've been too sore to type let alone craft!  I'm sooooo bored and have got itchy fingers to make something, even though the painkillers are making me feel sick!
I made this card on Saturday (before my shoulder flared up) after going to a fab Docrafts demo with Beckie Dreyer who's always so inspirational.  I just had to treat myself to a set of the new travel themed Urban stamps which are a lovely assortment of travel destinations, tickets and greetings.  I simply made the card blank by cutting down the front of a 6x6 blank and matching the papers so that when closed, it looks like a flat fronted card.  The main image and the ticket have both been stamped in black onto cream cardstock.
The papers I've used are Papermania book print.  Mum bought the pack and gave me half, thanks Mum!  I've added some colour with Distress Ink in Old Paper and Antique Linen.
I decided to keep it all quite neutral with just the addition of black cardstock and kraft card, some of which has a squared design on, again all Papermania.  I added a bit of texture to the circle of kraft with a Tim Holtz for Sizzix embossing folder and sanded for a distressed feel.
The punched border was done with a Martha Stewart punch, such a handy one for so many occasions.
I've added to the vintage look with some Distress Stickles in Frayed Burlap and finished the card with a few black gems and some book print Candi.

Spring Greens!

I made this card for my friend, Vic, to give her Mum for Mother's Day.
The lovely image is one of Ruth's digi stamps from A Passion For Stamps.  I've coloured it with Promarkers and Flexmarkers.  I really love some of the very pale, subtle colours of Flexmarker, they're so soft and pretty.
The papers are Papermania Me To You Spring Chic which are so pretty and full of spring colours.
The sentiment stamp is a random, unbranded one from my stash, it's been lurking for a few years and I can't remember where it came from.
I've added faux stitching to the topper and some of the layers by pricking holes with my pokey tool and joining them up with green, metalic Sakura pen.
Ribbon, bow, gems, done!

Tatty Easter!

I got this sweet stamp as a Christmas present and thought he'd be perfect for Easter with his bunch of spring flowers.  I stamped him in Memento ink in London Fog and coloured him with promarkers and Flexmarkers.
The papers are all from Papermania's Me to You Spring Chic stack.  They're so pretty and double sided too.
The sentiment stamp has been in my stash for years and I've got no idea where it came from!
The border punch is Martha Stewart and the flowers were made with my Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die.
I've finished my card with some ribbon, a bow and a few pink gems.
