Christmas Bears

Last night was craft night and we were a bit thin in the ground due to family commitments and holidays, but, after tea and home made sticky toffee cake, we made a card using this week's sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.
I decided to go with a Christmas theme using this cute image from Meljen which I coloured with Promarkers, highlighted with Glamour Dust and then added some Liquid Pearls for the falling snow.
The papers are Papermania Naughty or Nice from several years ago, I really like the bright contemporary colours of this stack.
To finish, I made a punched strip with a Martha Stewart punch, added green ribbon, a pink bow and bright pink pearls and gems.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Cutie Pie DT Card - Lots of Layers

It's challenge time again over at Cutie Pie, this fortnight we'd like to see "Lots of Layers".  This time we're sponsored by The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop and The Cedar Chest, so that's double the chance to win.
This challenge is right up my street as I love layers, they give me a chance to use my lovely paper stash, these ones are Prima Botanical and were free with a magazine a while back.  The adorable image is a Helz Cuppleditch Neighbourwood stamp that I picked up at the SECC last October for the bargain price of £1, but hadn't got round to inking.  It's been coloured, as usual, with Promarkers.
I used Spellbinders dies to cut the foliage and branch and an Xcut flower punch for the tiny blossoms.  The weeny butterflies were punched too with a punch that came from Tesco years ago.  Some plum ribbon and bow are the finishing touches to my woodland scene.

A Breath of Spring

Spring has arrived (sort of!) in the Highlands and the buds are fattening on the trees, I'm really looking forward to see the pretty blossom, it's so late this year.  I decided to make a card with spring blossoms on and this Little Claire stamp seemed to fit the bill.
I coloured the image with Promarkers to match these gorgeous Prima Hello Pastel papers, the colours and designs of this stack are just stunning.  I inked all the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  The sentiment was stamped with a Papermania stamp onto a tag element that I cut out from the paper pack.
The flowers were made with a Woodware punch and I finished my card with assorted pastel pearls, some yellow gems and some grosgrain ribbon and a bow.

Pink Gem DT Card - Going Green

I'm delighted to say that I've joined the talented bunch of ladies who make up the Pink Gem design team!  I'm really looking forward to working with Janet's lovely images, I've been a fan of them for ages as they're such fun to colour and the designs are so sweet.  Our theme this week is "Going Green", and without further ado, here's my card.

I've used an image called Beer Monster, you'll find him in the Pink Gem store here.  He's been coloured with Promarkers and I think he makes a fun card for a man.
I used a Stampin' Up stamp to create the beer tankard backing paper and continued the green theme with some corrugated card and some Papermania  patterned paper.  I broke up all that green a little with the addition of some foiled purple card, which my camera didn't like, it looks much richer in reality.
I used some knotted purple grosgrain ribbon instead of my usual bow as this one's for a bloke and stuck on some stars made from glossy green card using Xcut dies.  Some green shimmer dots and purple Card Candi to echo the spots finish my card.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Digi Haven DT Card - Use a Button

It's challenge time once again at Digi Haven and we'd love for you to play along, all you need to do is follow the theme and use a digi.  This fortnight out theme is "Use a Button" and we're sponsored  by Dilly Beans who are offering a digi prize to our winner.  This was a nice easy one for me as I love including buttons in my projects.
The DT were lucky enough to get to choose and image to work with, I went with this lovely, quirky one which I've coloured with Promarkers and given button middles to the flowers.
The papers and ribbon and buttons are Papermania Gorjuss, I just love the earthy, neutral shades of this range.  The floral edged mat was made with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set and the cream flowers were punched and given spotty button centres to echo the flowers in the image.  I added some ribbon roses too, to match the roses in the image and add a little splash of colour, and finished off with some assorted cream pearls.

Patchwork and Poppies

I found a lovely sketch over on Incy Wincy which is perfect for tall, thin images like this one, I couldn't wait to get layering.  I'm sure it's a layout I'll go back to again several times.
The stamp I used for this one is Sheena Douglass, from the Little Bit Sketchy range, I've coloured it with Promarkers and added some Scattered Straw Distress Ink round the edges of the topper.
The patterned papers are magazine freebies and look rather like fabric so I've distressed the edges and added faux stitching to make them look even more like material.  I used leather look paper for the bottom layer which I embossed with a Sheena Douglass embossing folder.  The sentiment stamp is from the same stamp set as the image.
The final touches are assorted buttons and some gold gems.

I Love Promarkers DT Card - Square Card With Something Round

It's challenge time at I Love Promarkers again, this time our theme is "A Square Card With Something Round On It".  This week our sponsor is Pink Gem and the DT were all lucky enough to get to choose an image to work with, I chose this one called Thoughtful Chloe and had great fun colouring her.
As you can see I really went for it with the circles, using a circular die cut topper, a circular stamped doily, doily papers and a ton of round buttons and pearls!
The pretty papers are Papermania Vintage Notes, as are the die cut heart, sentiment and buttons.  The doily stamp is from the same range too, I stamped it in Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks, spritzing the inked stamp before stamping to blend the inks and give a soft look.  A ribbon and bow complete my card.

Spring Tree

It was craft night last night, and after our tea and home made rhubarb and orange cake we made tree cards decorated with buttons and bling.
I
I used an Indigo Blu stamp called Lollipop Tree which I stamped with Walnut Stain and Shabby Shutters Distress Ink.  I did a bit of inking with Tumbled Glass and more Shabby Shutters, using some torn paper as a mask for the ground.  I created a mat to go under the topper, using more masking and Distress Ink, to extend the scene.  I decorated the tree with buttons, dew drops, pearls and gems and added a little bird cut with a Marianne die.

Trimming the Tree

Bargains galore on this one, it's those £2 Tulip papers again along with a mag freebie stamp!
The image has been coloured with Promarkers (of course!) and then highlighted with Stickles in Yellow, Christmas Red and Star Dust.  I couldn't resist decorating the tree with some gems for baubles and adding some shiny red berries to the holly, well, if Christmas isn't the time for a bit of bling when is?!
I kept the layout quite simple adding a bit of interest with a punched holly border, done with a Martha Stewart punch along with some bright red ribbon, a bow and some red gems and pearls.  A sentiment stamped with a Papermania stamp finished it it off.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

A Walk in the Meadow

This beautiful Wild Rose Studio stamp is free with the current issue of Quick Cards Made Easy, such a brilliant freebie, I couldn't wait to ink it up.
I coloured the image with Promarkers to match these pretty Dovecraft Tea Party papers, I love the pink and green colour combo.  After colouring, I added loads of Stickles, in Yellow, Thistle and Star Dust for added girly sparkle.  The layout is an old favourite sketch from Papertake, I've used is so many times but I still really like it.
The flowers were made with punches and the flourishes were cut with a Marianne die.  A liberal sprinkling if gems finish my ultra feminine card.

'Appy 'n' 'Elfy!

I had my Personal Impressions Christmas elf stamps out again, I always enjoy colouring these cheerful chaps.
I used Promarkers for colouring again, this time to match these lovely Papermania Tulip papers that I got in the Hobby Craft sale for the bargain price of £2.  They have a very nice linen texture and lots of them could be used all year round, I teamed them with some kraft.  The sentiment came from the same stamp set as the image.  I used a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set on the red mat to give it a holly edging.
To finish off I added my usual ribbon and bow, some stars made with Xcut dies and a large handful of clear gems in three sizes.

Sharing in Your Sorrow

Here's one of those dreaded sympathy card, they're always the hardest to make.  This one's for a chap at church who lost his wife very suddenly.
I used My Mind's Eye Portobello Road papers for this one along with some kraft, I thought the muted colours of this stack were perfect for a sympathy card.  The bottom panel was debossed with a Tim Holtz folder which I inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink.  To add some interest to my simple layout, I used a leafy EK Success border punch along the bottom edge of one of the mats.
The tree and sentiment are from a Stampin' Up stamp set, I heat embossed the tree with clear powder and stamped the sentiment in Rich Cocoa Memento.  Some ribbon, a bow and some soft blue and cream pearls finish it off.

Panda Says Thanks!

Here's another card made with one of the £1 Helz Cuppleditch stamps I picked up in the Hobby Craft sale, I think the sweet panda is just adorable.
He's been coloured, as always, with Promarkers, the sentiment stamp is from a Papermania set.
The papers I've used are my Mind's Eye, Quite Contrary, I've got hardly any of that stack left and I'm gutted as it is one of my favourite ever paper packs (and believe me I have a lot to choose from!) and what's more it came free with a mag yonks ago.  I inked the edges of the patterned paper with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and the kraft layers with Walnut Stain.
The big bloom was made with my beloved Woodware punches with a baker's twine threaded button for the centre.  I made a stem from ribbon and added a bow for leaves.  To finish, I added some flower shaped buttons with pearls glued to the middles and some pink pearls.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Fairy Friends

I love this Penny Black stamp, it reminds me so much of my sister and me when we were children, I'm the one with the pigtails, my sister's the one with the bob.  I would like to point out, however, that neither of us has ever had wings or unfeasibly tiny legs!
The stamped image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I added some Star Dust Stickles to the wings, you can't have fairies without a bit of sparkle!  The sentiment was done with a Lili of the Valley stamp, I thought it went well with the image.
The papers I've used are DCWV The Kidlet Stack, some of which are beautifully glittered, I really love the colour combo of this stack.  I added black mats to my layers to make the colours pop.
The doily and flowers were made with Xcut dies using papers from the same paper stack as the mats, I added some upturned Card Candi and green pearls to the flower centres.  The foliage was made with a Woodware punch, I'd be lost without that one as it's so handy.
To finish my card I've added my usual ribbon and bow, but this time I've layered the ribbon with some lovely metallic rickrack and topped the bow with a resin flower.

Sending You Sunshine

When I saw the lovely sketch over at A Gem of a Challenge, I knew I had to play along, I do so love a good sketchie!
I used a Pink Gem digi for this one, I'm slowly amassing a large collection of these lovely images, I've coloured it with Promarkers to match these gorgeous Prima Sun Kiss papers.  After die cutting the topper, I used some Scattered Straw Distress Ink round the edges while it was still in the die for a warm and sunny feel, I also used Wild Honey on the edges of the papers.
The sentiment was stamped with a stamp from a Papermania set, I thought it was a good match for this image and the colours.  The lacy strip along the bottom was made with a Martha Stewart punch and the flowers were made with Woodware punches.  I used these daisy punches a lot, I have all the sizes so they layer up beautifully, they were originally bought to make my sister's wedding invites but they've been used so much since.  To give the petals some shape, I crimp the larger ones with tweezers and shape the smaller ones with a ball tool.
To finish my card I added some ribbon, a bow, some blue pearls and a few tiny punched butterflies.

It's Wednesday and that can only mean one thing, it's challenge time at I Love Promarkers.  This week our theme is "Pastel Colours", so nice and easy to play along.  we are sponsored this time by The Paper Shelter who are offering a digi prize to our winner.  The DT were lucky enough to be given an image to play with, I chose this pretty fairy having a bubble bath.
After colouring with my Promarkers, I added lashings of Glamour Dust for a bit of fairy sparkle to her wings and the bubbles.
The papers are those lovely Papermania Spots and Stripes Capsule Collection again, to which I've added kraft.  The sentiment was stamped with a Papermania Black and Gold stamp.
The flowers were made with punches and the flourish was cut with a Spellbinders die.  To complete my card, I added some blue grosgrain scalloped ribbon with a bow, a Papermania Vintage Notes hatpin, some Card Candi and assorted lilac pearls.

Shaker Easel

Last night was craft night and after our tea and home made bakewell cupcakes topped with a mini bakewell tart, we got down to work making shaker cards.
I decided to go down the Christmas route with mine, using a Michael Powell stamp coloured with Promarkers and snowy acetate.
As the image is quite detailed, I kept the card fairly simple using white textured cardstock and some dark blue glitter card.  For the stopper element I used a Martha Stewart border punch, a ribbon, a bow topped with a snowflake brad and a Papermania sentiment.  The shaker box was filled with Pinflair Ice Diamond with some Glamour Dust mixed in for extra sparkle and I finished off with some silver domed gems.

Cosmos

My Mum and her hubby went to the garden centre recently to buy some cosmos seeds for summer bedding and this put me in mind of this beautiful image from A Passion For Stamps.  I love the vivid colours cosmos comes in, I decided to colour mine hot pink.

I went round the edge of the topper with Salty Ocean Distress Ink while it was still in the die then coloured the image with Promarkers.  I had coloured it to match some pink and blue papers but when I held the topper against them the impact of the bright colours was lost so I opted for white on white instead.
I used a 5x7 scalloped blank and matted up with white woven textured card and four panels which I embossed with an Embossalicious folder, adding faux stitching to all the layers for definition.  The sentiment was stamped with a Papermania stamp and I finished off with some white organza ribbon, a bow, some punched flowers, white pearls and a tiny pink butterfly.

Cutie Pie DT Card - CAS

We have a new challenge for you over at Cutie Pie, this fortnight our theme is "Clean and Simple" and we have a digi prize from Bugaboo for our winner.  As regular visitors to my blog will know, CAS is soooo not my thing!  Don't get me wrong, I love CAS cards when other people make them, I just find it hard to make them myself as the little voice in my head keeps saying "Add more stuff"!

The DT were given a Bugaboo image to play with, I chose this fun dragon to make a get well card with, I think he'd cheer anyone up.  He's been coloured as per the norm with my trusty Promarkers.
To add some interest to my very simple layout I added some faux stitching in navy blue and a ribbon which I threaded through two eyelets.  A bow with a brad in the centre and three red pearls finish it off.

The Green Dragon

Here's yet another page from my Welsh scrapbook, this time I used photos of us on The Green Dragon roller coaster at Greenwood Park.  It's the world's first and only human powered roller coaster, it cleverly harnesses the weight of the passengers as energy to power it.
I used Core'dinations in yellow and green along with Papermania Happy Days and Prima papers to pull out the colours in the photos.  The journaling card is from the Happy Days range too and the yellow letter stickers are also Papermania, from the Capsule Collection range in Lemon Sorbet.  The yellow flowers were made with Woodware punches with brad centres, the green ones are Papermania from the Chelsea Green Capsule Collection.  Some buttons, gold gems and two shades of green Card Candi finish my page.

I'm entering this layout in the following challenges -
Lasting Memories - #135 - Use Your Stash, this was made with all older stuff

Tilda's Got Hex Appeal!

I don't make many Tilda cards, I only have three stamps, but I always enjoy colouring her.  This time she's been coloured to match my lush new Prima Hello Pastel papers, I've used my usual Promarkers for this, adding some Anita's 3D Gloss on her lollipop.
Ooh, get me and my papercraft trends, with ultra fashionable hexagons and chevron print paper, I've never been so en vogue!  The hexagons were die cut with Spellbinders, I used Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink to colour the one with the sentiment on.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the lace border, the flowers were made with punches too and were topped with buttons or pearls depending on their size.  To finish, I added a shed load of tiny pink pearls, some lilac pearls and a ribbon and bow.

Flutterby Wishes

I had itchy fingers to get crafting with these lovely new Prima Sunrise Sunset papers, they're divine!
I decided that a butterfly incorporating the colours of the papers would be nice so I used my  Papermania Build a Butterfly stamp set to make a dimensional butterfly.  I first stamped a whole butterfly as a base then a top section and a bottom section, which once cut out layer up to make a whole insect with the top wings over the bottom ones as in nature.  The colouring was done with my usual Promarkers and once coloured I gave it a spritz with some iridescent Spray and Sparkle.   The sentiment was done with a stamp from the same set.
To finish off I added some ribbon, a bow, some gems and a butterfly trail of Liquid Pearls.

The sentiment was a freebie, I can't remember where from but I thought it went perfectly with this image.
The oh so pretty papers are Nitwits from Lili of the Valley, a simply stunning stack in the most beautiful soft colours.  The flowers were made with punches and I finished my card with some Papermania Forever Friends ribbon with a bow and charm and some lilac pearls.
