Fussy and Fancy DT Card - Bring on the Bling

It's challenge time again at Fussy and Fancy, and I think this one will be popular.  The theme is "Bling It On", so sprinkle those sequins, dig out that glitter and let loose those gems!  The photos of my card don't show just how sparkly it is, it's covered in Glamour Dust, and so was I for days after making this!
I was asked to make a wedding card with lots of tartan on, and I instantly thought of a spool of Fraser tartan ribbon left over from when I made invitations for a family wedding.  A ribbon wreath seemed the obvious choice, being quick and easy to make make, but looking quite impressive to those who've never made one.  I made a large, double looped bow with a heart brad in the centre to cover the join.
I used a Lili of the Valley stamped image in the centre, coloured with my trusty Promarkers and highlighted with Glamour Dust and several colours of Stickles for the confetti.
I embossed the scalloped blank with a flourish folder, then went over the design with a Quickie glue pen and added, yes, you've guessed it, yet more Glamour Dust, and three sizes of clear gems.  I also went round the edges of the blank with the glue pen and glittered in the same way.
The heart in the top right corner was die cut and embossed with a Cuttlebug set, and I added more glue pen to the recessed areas, and yet another ton of Glamour Dust.
Even my crafty friends have said, "You do know you're covered in glitter don't you?", imagine what the non crafty ones, not to mention strangers are thinking!!

For a New Big Bro!

Our next door neighbours have just had a baby girl, (I can't wait til she comes home from hospital and I can have a cuddle!) and I decided to make a card for their four year old son, Noah, who has just become a big brother for the first time.  I've used one of the new Pink Gem digis, this one's called Andy on Tyre Swing, you''l find it in the store here.
The image has been coloured with Promarkers to match these bright and cheerful Papermania Spots and Stripes Capsule Collection papers and buttons, I love this range for boy's cards.  I inked all the edges with Barn Door Distress Ink for definition.
The sentiment was computer generated, then die cut.  The stars were die cut too, with Xcut dies, I'd be lost without that set!  The starry border punch is from Tonic, I must get some more of these as they really do punch through anything, the gears make them so easy to use.
Some knotted ribbon, buttons and red pearls finish my bright and breezy card off.

I Love Promarkers DT Card - Use Dies

It's challenge time once again at I Love Promarkers and this week our theme is "Use Dies", just dies please, punches don't count for this one.  We have two sponsors this time, Marianne and Visible Image, so that means two chances to win!
I've combined a Heather Ellis digi with my current craft crush, Papermania's Home to Nest A4 Ultimate pack, the paper, tags and seed packet elements are all from the pack.  The image has, of course, been coloured with Promarkers, and I added tiny seed beads to the girl's eyes.
For the die cutting part of the challenge, I used a Spellbinders Grand circle to cut out the topper, a Grand fancy circle for the mat and I made a flower from crinkle kraft (love that stuff!) using a Marianne die.
A ribbon, bow, button and pearl finish my parenthesis shaped card

Christmas Star

It was craft night last night, and, after our tea and home baked red velvet cupcakes (you'll find the recipe here, on my baking blog) we all made cards using embossing folders and gilding wax.

I even managed to use up another A6 card blank from my enormous, and hardly touched stash of them, with this gold and blue Christmas card.
I used a Craft Concepts folder to emboss the background, then rubbed on gold gilding wax with my finger.
The border punch I used is a Tonic one and I die cut some stars with Xcut dies.  The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed with gold powder, the stamp is from a Papermania Forever Friends set, and I coloured the white card with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.
Some ribbon, a bow, buttons and a gold gem finish my card off.

Cutie Pie DT Card - 1-2-3 Recipe

It's challenge time once again at Cutie Pie, this time our theme is a "1-2-3 Recipe", in other words, one image, two papers and three embellishments, or any other combination of your choice.  Our sponsor for this one is Di's Digi Downloads who are offering a digi prize to our winner.
I've used a cute as be digi from Digi Darla which I've coloured with Promarkers, with a bit of sparkly Glamour Dust on the rain.
The papers are DCWV the Juniper Berry Stack, I just love the blue and cream colour combo and glittered finish of this delicious pack.  I added in a bit of dark blue glitter card and some dark blue foiled cardstock for even more shimmer.
The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up stamp set, I stamped in blue ink to match the colour scheme, I thought it went rather well with this under the weather image.  I chose three flowers for my three embellishments, they were made with Nellie Snellen punches.  To finish off, I added some navy ribbon, a bow and assorted blue pearls.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Embossing and Gilding Wax

You know all those small, A6 card blanks lurking in your stash that have been there since the dawn of time (or possibly before!)?  We've all got them, they were probably a bargain or came in a goody bag.  Well....... I'm going to use them up!  One or two at least, maybe as many as two or three!  Ta da!  Here's the first card I've made in ages using one of these little blanks, the great thing is that they're the perfect size for cardstock embossed with small embossing folders, which is what I've used here.
This is a bit of a departure from my usual style, there's not a Promarkered image in sight.  I was crafting over at Mum's, and we felt like getting a bit messy, so we cracked open her new gilding waxes.  I embossed a piece of kraft card with an Embosabilities folder, then simply rubbed on two colours of wax with a tissue, to pick out the design.
Next, I had a good rummage through Mum's punches and dies and found this lovely Martha Stewart border punch and a Spellbinders rolled flower, neither of which I have, so I availed myself of their use!  I also managed to purloin a scrap of lace, a length of ribbon and a little Frayed Burlap Distress Ink for the edges of my blank, oh and some crinkle kraft for the flower!  Don't worry, I'm not an evil daughter, she get plenty of mine!!!  I added the buttons, stick pins and pearl in the flower's centre when I got home.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Totally Papercrafts - #168 - Buttons
As You Like It - #2 -  Fave Colour Combo.  This changes all the time for me, but brown and teal is one that I return to time and time again, I really love kraft and try to sneak it into as many projects as I can!

A Gem of a Challenge DT Project - Bring on the Sunshine

Good morning everyone!  We have a new challenge for you, starting today, over at A Gem of a Challenge, where our theme this week is "Bring on the Sunshine".  Couldn't we all do with a bit of that that?!  So,  why not dig out your sunniest colours, cheerful sentiments, or maybe a summer themed image and play along, we'd love to see what you come up with.
I decided to send some sunshine to a friend who's feeling a bit under par at the moment, with this card and matching gift pouch set.  She's a keen gardener and also a bee-keeper, in fact she's studying for her master bee-keeping exams at the moment, so I thought that this cute fellow would "bee" perfect for her.
For the card, I used three Pink Gem digis, Bee With Daffodil, Daisy Border,  and Sunshine and Smiles sentiment.  I used Promarkers for colouring and Star Dust Stickles on the wings.
The papers are from one of my all time favourite paper packs, Sun Kiss from Prima, it's one of those stacks that's almost too nice to use....almost!  I created the floral frame with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the page set, and used Woodware punches and Card Candi to make the flower.  The leaves were made with Marianne dies.  Some pretty, apricot ribbon and a bow finish my sunny card off.
The pouch was made from a sheet of orange 12x12 cardstock, you'll find my tutorial for this here, it's really easy to do.  I used the same papers and image as for the card, but this time I paper pieced the bee's wings.
A bag of Thornton's chocolates is the perfect size for this gift pouch, keep an eye out in pound shops as they often sell them for a pound instead of the usual two quid everywhere else.
I'm entering this project in the following challenges -

Digi Haven DT Card - Butterflies

Good morning digi lovers, we have a new challenge starting today over at Digi Haven.  This time our theme is "Butterflies" and we're sponsored by Floppy Latte who are offering a digi prize to our winner.  The DT were given a digi to play with, I chose this pretty hibiscus one.
I coloured the image with Promarkers and added lashings of Glamour Dust to the butterfly.
The pretty papers are Kanban Cambridge, the paper at the bottom of the card is foiled but it doesn't show very well in the photo.  The pink butterfly is foiled also and was fussy cut from the paper pack, I added some gems for it's body.  I inked all the edges with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink to echo the colour of the flower.  The sentiment is a die cut from Craftwork Cards.
The flourishes were die cut from pink satin board using my Tim Holtz Elegant Flourishes die, and I completed the card with some tiny punched butterflies with pearls in the centre and three small blue gems.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Dutch Dare - #218 - Butterflies
Creative Belli - #170 - Flowers
Digi Darla  - #63 - 3D Element - the little butterflies were stuck on with glue gel and the wings lifted for dimension.

A New Home

I've been playing with my Lucy Cromwell Home to Nest A4 Ultimate pack again, I just love the soft colours and beautiful artwork.  This time I decided to make a new home card with this charming decoupage topper, featuring a blue tit about to go in to his nesting box.

The papers, matching, tag and sentiment are all from the A4 pack, all I had to add was some kraft card, some ribbon, some twine, Card Candi and a brown pearl.
It's not often a collection comes along that is as versatile as this one, it's perfect for both male and female makes and covers a wide range of occasions (can you tell I like it!).

I Love Promarkers DT Card - Anything Goes

It's Wednesday so it's challenge time at I Love Promarkers!  This week our theme is the ever popular, "Anything Goes", and our sponsor is Doctor Digi.  Some of the DT have used Doctor Digi images, myself included, I thought that this one, called First Place Phil would make the perfect birthday card for my F1 mad brother-in-law.  I've kept the layout for this one pretty CAS (shock, horror I know!) as he's a pretty minimalist kinda guy.
Obviously, (it is a Promarkers challenge after all!) I used my Pros to colour the fun image.  I love Doctor Digi images, especially the male ones, they always make me smile and it can be so hard to find images suitable for humourous male cards.
I didn't have any black and white check paper, so I made my own by cutting two cm squares and layering them onto white paper, then cutting two fish tail banners.  I had a good rummage and managed to find just enough black and white, gingham ribbon to wrap round the card and add a brad topped twist.  A few screw brads finish it off.
I'm entering this card in the following challenge -
Creative Craft - #10 - Just Checking
Artistic Impressions - #42 - Cards for Men
Incy Wincy - Metal Mania - I used brads

Shadow Box Card and Some Cake

It was, of course, craft night, yesterday, and, after tea and home baked milk chocolate and pistachio squares, we all made shadow box cards.  I decided to go down the Christmas route again, and used another of Janet's lovely Ginger images, this one's called Ginger With Garland and you'll find her in the Pink Gem shop here.

To make the card base, I cut two pieces of mint green card to 6x9 inches and placed them, one at a time, landscape on my Hougie board and scored at 1, 1.5, 7.5 and 8 inches.  I then die cut a circle in the middle of one of the pieces to make the aperture that the image is viewed through.
I coloured the cute image with Promarkers to match these rather appropriate papers, which were mag freebies many moons ago, they couldn't be more perfect for this image.
I used a Martha Stewart cupcake border punch to continue the sweet treats theme and finished my card with buttons, pearls and a big bow made from ribbon and floss.

Orange Poppies

Here's something bright for a Monday morning!  I decided to make a card using my favourite colour, orange, just to bring a little bit of sunshine into an otherwise grey day.
The lovely digi image I've used is from A Passion For Stamps, I really love Ruth's botanical images, this beautiful poppy is one of my favourites, but this is the first time I've coloured it in orange, which I've done with Promarkers.  I used Wild Honey Distress Ink round the edges of the topper to add warmth and to tie it in with the background which was created with Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks, applied direct to the scalloped blank, then spritzed with water and dried.  I then stamped a poppy design with a Sheena Douglass stamp in Spiced Marmalade in the top right corner.
The gorgeous papers are new (I know, more new papers, but I won them so they don't count!) and are My Mind's Eye, All Spice.  I added a bit of interest with a punched border done with a Martha Stewart punch, an orange ribbon, a matching bow, to which I also added some variegated floss, some flowers made with Nellie Snellen punches,a leaf made with a Cuttlebug die and some pearls and gems.

Pastel Colours and a Bit of Doodling

I noticed that a few of my favourite challenge blogs have doodling as their current theme, so Micron pen in hand, I got my doodle on!  I even doodled a pattern on the girl's dress with Sakura Souffle pens.
The cute image is from Di's Digis, and has been coloured with my ever faithful Promarkers, with Sakura pen for the pattern on the dress.
I'm trying to be good and at least attempt to make a tiny dent in my humungous paper stash (it helps assuage my guilt when I buy even more!), so I dug out these oh, so pretty Honey and Hugs papers which I haven't used in ages, I'm really pleased I did, the colours and ditzy prints are gorgeous.  I added some soft, lemon, pearl cardstock to my pastel papers.
The blue rickrack and paper flower have also been lurking in my stash forever and a day (yay, more using up!), I decided to layer the rickrack over some pink grosgrain ribbon for even more pastel goodness!
To finish my girly creation, I stuck on some Papermania Spots and Strips buttons, a Papermania Tulip sentiment, and some weeny seed beads for the girl's eyes.

Sophie

Yep, it's another one!  This is the fifth card I've made with these beautiful, vintage, Pink Gem digis.  This one's called Sophie and you'll find her in the the shop here.
Once again, she's been coloured with Promarkers, this time to match these pretty My Mind's Eye, In Bloom papers, which I think have a beautiful and rather unusual combination of colours.
The lacy circle was cut with a grand Spellbinders die and the corner elements were cut with a Marianne die.  Next, I added some buttercup yellow lace, then I went wild with the bling to create a border round the image, using dew drops, assorted pearls and assorted clear and pink gems.

Ginger With Lollipop

I'm still trying to get ahead with my Christmas cards so I don't have a mad rush at the end of the year, I've used a Pink Gem digi called Ginger with Lollipop for this one, you'll find it here.  Can you tell how much I'm enjoying being on the Pink gem DT?!!
I've used my usual Promarkers to colour this cutie, just look at her sweet face (no pun intended!).
The red and white papers are Papermania, Home for Christmas, and the kraft one is Krafty Christmas from Lili of the Valley, I think they work rather well together as they both have a homespun look, as does the stitched, grosgrain ribbon.  Three red, heart shaped buttons finish my festive card.

Ruby Love Birds

I was asked to make a card for a Ruby Wedding Anniversary, and here's what I came up with.
The adorable image was a Valentine's freebie from Nutcrafter's on their Facebook page back in February, I've been waiting for an excuse to play with it, and I have to say that it was such fun to colour, which I've done with Promarkers.
The shaped blank is from Craftwork Cards, and I stamped a border with See Dees stamps using Barn Door Distress Ink.  I've resurrected my See Dee collection lately and have been thoroughly enjoying using them again.
The papers are Papermania Tatty Teddy, to which I've added plain white cardstock and a touch of red mirri, along with some faux stitching for a bit of interest.  I used a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set to make the heart frame and Spellbinders dies to make the hearts.  The sentiment was computer generated.
Some bright red organza ribbon, a bow and some ruby gems finish off my loved up card.

Mollie

Here's yet another card made with one of the stunning new Pink Gem vintage girls.  Did I mention how much I love them?!  This one's called Mollie and you'll find her here.
One again, I've used Promarkers to colour her, this time to match these pretty, Papermania Aqua Capsule Collection papers that I picked up cheap at the SECC last October.
I created a stamped border using See Dees stamps and Shaded Lilac Distress Ink, round the edges of the Craftwork Cards shaped blank.
I used an EK Success punch to make the central panel and Nellie Snellen and Xcut punches to make the flowers, which were coloured with more Distress Ink.
A baker's twine threaded button and some organza ribbon finish my oh so girly card.

I Love Promarkers Dt Card - Simply Does It

We have a new challenge for you today at I Love Promarkers, this week our theme is "Simply Does It," and our sponsors are J&C Creations and Hobby Book, so that's double the chance to win.  Clean and simple are the three little words that strike fear into my heart, this is soooo not my style, but I quite like how it turned out.

The stamp I've used is a Woodware one and has been coloured, of course, with Promarkers.  I added some brown Liquid Pearls for chocolate sauce and a red button for a cherry.  It's a lovely big stamp that I never tire of colouring, even although it always makes me hungry as I work!
The paper, sentiment and border strip are all from Craftwork Cards, the sentiment says "Birthday Wishes", but my camera didn't like the silver on white, it is easy to read in real life unlike in the photo.  I inked the edges with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink for added fruity zing.
Three buttons from my mahoosive new Papermania Capsule Collection bag are the only other embellishments.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -

Last night was craft night, and after tea and home made mile high Oreo cake, we all made cards using this week's sketch from Sketch Saturday.  I used yet another of Janet's stunning Pink Gem vintage ladies, this one's called Elsa and you'll find her her here.

The image was coloured with Promarkers to match these pretty My Mind's Eye papers, I distressed all the edges for a shabby look.
The lacy border was done with a Martha Stewart punch and the flower was made with Woodware punches, with a pearl topped button in the centre.  Some pearls, gems, ribbon and a bow finish it off.

Harriet

I'm back again with another of the new vintage images from Pink Gem, this one's called Harriet and you'll find her here.  To say I've fallen in love with these digis is an understatement, the others are bound to be making an appearance soon too!
She's been coloured with my usual Promarkers in warm colours to match these gorgeous Prima Sunrise Sunset papers, to which I've added kraft and some pleated ribbon tape from the same range, the pleats held in place with tiny brads. I distressed all the edges for a shabby look. For the faux stitching, I made hole with a pokey tool and joined them up with a dark brown pen.
After colouring the image, I added Glamour Dust to the hair accessory and collar and used Worn Lipstick Distress Stickles round the edges of the topper.  While the Distress Stickles was still wet, I sprinkled on some micro beads for even more texture.
The larger flowers were made with Woodware punches, with dew drops for centres and the tiny ones were made with an Xcut punch with pearl centres.  To finish off, I added a scattering of assorted pearls, gold gems and two, floss threaded buttons.

We have a new challenge for you over at Cutie Pie, this fortnight we'd like you to use our inspiration photo, please let us know in your post the element of your project inspired by the photo as it's not always obvious.  Our sponsor this time is Crafty Ribbons who are offering a prize to our winner.
I'm sure this photo will inspire all sorts of lovely projects, I decided to go with the balloon theme for my card, using this super sweet digi stamp from Digi Darla.
I masked off the image, then used some hand cut cloud shapes as masks and created the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  The image was then coloured with Promarkers and highlighted with Stickles in Thistle and Waterfall.
The oh so pretty papers are Nitwits from Lili of the Valley, I just love the colour combo of this stack.  I inked all the edges with Dusty Concord Distress Ink for a bit of definition.
The flowers were made with my much loved Nellie Snellen punches and I further embellished with some grosgrain ribbon, a bow, some lilac pearls and clear gems.

Ahoy Little Duckie!

Confession number....er....I've lost count!  Anyway, I have to confess to having bought these lovely, new Papermania, Ahoy There papers.  I think these will be perfect for those tricky male cards, especially ones for my Dad as he's a big fan of anything nautical.  This card, however, would probably be better suited to someone considerably younger than my sixty nine year old father!
The image is from Bugaboo and was a freebie a couple of weeks ago, I've coloured it with Promarkers (no surprise there!).
The papers, as mentioned above are Papermania, I inked the edges with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.  The sentiment was made with a Go Create die, part of a Boo the Bear dress up set, it accompanies a pirate costume.
To embellish, I layered red and white baker's twine on navy blue ribbon and finished with buttons.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
