I'd never entered a papercraft competition before, this was my very first entry, and I've won a massive haul of House Mouse goodies! I can't tell you how chuffed I am. The competition was in Quick Cards Made Easy and had to feature a heart. There were ten winners, although only three were printed in the mag, mine being one of them. I can't wait for my prize to arrive now! I only found out I'd won when I picked up the new issue at Tesco today and was flicking through. It was just the pick me up I was needing as I'm feeling a bit pants today.
This was one of those projects that just grew layer upon layer, I had no idea where it was heading when I started apart from that I would have a gilded heart. The heart was made with double sided adhesive sheet, one side stuck to cardstock and the other gilded with gold flakes. I embossed it with a cogs embossing folder for added texture.
The easel card was made from Bazzil cardstock and the papers are Kanban Industriana and Papermania Black and Gold. I tore the paper behind the heart for a shabby look and stamped keys from a Papermania Urban set and heat embossed with gold powder. I also sprinkled on a bit of gold powder randomly and heated it to give a grungy shimmer.
The cogs were made with Spellbinders dies and the key was made with a Marianne die. The padlocks were cut on my Cricut using the Sweethearts cartridge, layered up , sanded and inked.
The sentiment was hand written on a Frame element from the Black and Gold paper stack.
Some ribbon and a sprinkling of gems finish it off.
I'm really pleased with how it turned out and even more pleased to have won!
I'm entering this card in the following challenges -
Sugar Creek Hollow - #4 - steampunk
My Time To Craft - #176 - easel cards
Party Time Tuesday - #61 - anything goes
The Crazy Challenge - #112 - add a sentiment
Top 3 - Challenge #606 Christmas Animals
